Sure you can take the Aug MCAt and apply this year. Are you prepared to take it then? If so, then go ahead. It is always better to apply as early as possible. I am sure you are not the only one that will be taking the MCAT then and applying this year.

I think you should address the issue in a personal statement, but not make the statement all about this issue. If they want to know details they will ask about it in your interview!

I have always read that quality is better than quantity. So I do not think I would put down the club that you are on the mailing list for..but I would include the volunteer work and awards from your childhood. I believe that this shows your compassion, even at an early age.
