Schools grant medical degrees, not residencies. If you go to an osteopathic medical school, you will be granted a DO degree upon graduation. The only way to get an MD after that is to repeat medical school at an allopathic institution or get a degree from a diploma mill, neither of which is a good idea.

It was possible, in 1960's California, to pay $50 and get an MD as a DO grad, but that was for a period of time when California was trying to get rid of osteopathic medicine.

Bottom line: Don't go to a DO school unless you are comfortable having those letters after your name (I am a DO student, FYI).

Yes this is true

DO is a degree
MD is a Degree
MBBS is a Degree

you can not be

DO
MD
MBBS

without those degrees.

All are Physicians

All can take th USMLE

All can have MD residencies

I cannot be clearer.

DO, MD and MBBS are all DOCTORS!!! They can do the same things although DO, MD, and MBBS have their own special paths as well that don't cross into the paths of the other degrees!!!!
