State of Caribbean schools and who to pick

Post by CaribMD »

As always I tell people to pick the Big three

AUC
Ross
SGU

and then SABA

these are California Approved and the 3 have US Federal Student Loans

Hello, I'm new to this board. I have learned alot from reading the posts here. I am interested in St Jame medical school. First I don't know which campus is better. Please anyone who has attended either give me your 2 cents.
Ihave a B.S in healthare management- gpa 3.1
I have MSHS-Public Health- gpa- 3.5
my science req grades are as follows,

Gen chem 1 lec- c
" " lab- A
Gen chem II lec- A
lab- A
Gen Bio 1 lec - B
lab- A
Gen Bio II lec- c
lab- A
org chem 1 Lec- C-
lab - A-
Org chem II lec- C
lab - A
Anatomy & Histology n lab- A-
A&P n pathophysiology n lab 1 - B
A&P N patho n lab II- A
col algebr- c
statistic-c
physics- 1 semester- c
micro bio- A-

I know the grades are poor. looking at my transcripts back then I wonder what I was doing. Just had a lot going on then. working full time over night n classes in the morning without sleep. Anyways. that was then. so looking at my stats, do you guys think I have a chance?

CariMD- have you gotten matched yer for residency? that's one thing that concerns me about this school. However, I'm willing to take a leap.
All comments are welcome.
thanks

Matching has to do with your Score on the USMLE more than the school, they see Caribbean and FMG the same so if you are from India its the same.

If you go to a Caribbean school then yes you will need a good USMLE score.

I'm in the 2012 match so I do not know yet.

my main concern is getting funding. I know you had a bad experience about getting loan, what advice can you give me to help with loans.
Also, how rigorous is the basic science program at Bonaire? In your class were some students dismissed for failing the classes?

does one have to pass their ck b/4 they get their diploma and if so what is the maximum number of times one can take the exam according to school policy.
