Top schools for specializing?

Post by l3soup »

Hi,

I was wondering what your opinions are for the top 5 D.O. schools in terms of landing a specialty residency spot (highest percentage of students specializing where they choose to)? Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly medical school is not like other professions, the school does not mean that much except in these cases

IVY, John Hopkins, Mayo, Emory
US Medical school verses FMG or IMG

other then that its the Board scores and the interview, if you get an interview and they hate you, you still do not get the residency even from John Hopkins Yale or Harvard.

You have to understand its what you can do and if you are likable that matters most.

The older shcools (KCOM, PCOM, CCOM, KCUMB, etc.) have been shown to match more specialists. The fact of the matter is that school doesn't matter much at all.

Board scores, 'audition rotations', and grades are what matter. If you want to do ortho, ophtho, derm, plastics, etc., then be a rockstar. You are the determining factor, not the school.
